Overview

Explore Hurghada with us. We will visit the old port, where traditional fishing still persists, the locals build and repair their boats here and set sail every day early in the morning on the open sea from where they return with nets full of fish. We will look at their catches at the fish market, where wooden counters bend under the weight of freshly caught fish, crustaceans and others. The port has been home to the largest local mosque since 2012. The mosque resembles the Indian Taj Mahal. It can accommodate up to 7.000 believers and it is a popular tourist destination. We will guide you through it and tell you something about Islam, which is dominates Egypt. And because a large minority of Orthodox Christians, Copts, are an integral part of Egyptian society, we will also take a look at the beautifully decorated Coptic Church in Dahar. We will then stay in Dahar for a while, as it is the oldest of all the districts in Hurghada. It was Dahar who used to be the original fishing village before the development of tourism. We will visit a traditional market where you can try bargaining and get to know the local life and bustle. Before we head back, we invite you for traditional tea or Turkish coffee and a hookah. And on the way back we will visit a large souvenir shop where you will be able to buy at fixed prices without bargaining.
